YNDC Visits GTECH - Friday, May 14, 2010
Staff of the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation (YNDC) and other community stakeholders conducted a learning exchange with GTECH Strategies of Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the exchange was to learn from the innovative vacant land reuse programming being developed by GTECH. GTECH uses innovative vacant land management initiatives to turn environmental problems into social and economic opportunities. They have gained regional and national recognition for their work in growing sunflowers and canola on vacant land to create economic opportunity for residents of distressed neighborhoods and a source of biofuel. GTECH will be visiting Youngstown to learn more about the innovative strategies being deployed through the Lots of Green program.
