On Saturday, April 14, 2012, Ian Beniston, YNDC Deputy Director, spoke to a group of urban planners from across the country at the American Planning Association’s (APA) 2012 National Planning Conference in Los Angeles, California. The APA National Planning Conference is the largest annual conference of urban planners in the United States. Approximately 4,000 planners attend the conference every year.

Ian presented a session entitled “Investment and Hope Amid Population Decline” that focused on Youngstown, Youngstown 2010, and a case study of YNDC’s work to integrate planning and community development strategies to stabilize the Idora neighborhood.

In addition to YNDC’s work being highlighted at the APA National Planning Conference, YNDC has also been highlighted in a new guidebook for city planners published by the APA’s Planner Advisory Service.
