As YNDC launches development in the strategic focus neighborhoods of Idora, Crandall Park North and Lincoln Park, it will implement certain programs in all three. Learn more about these programs.
While a focus neighborhood, Idora will also serve as a model for YNDC’s development initiatives. As such, Idora will pilot demonstration programs to determine their potential in other neighborhoods. The activities in Idora will serve as a demonstration to the broader community and provide the opportunity to refine and scale programs for deployment throughout the city.

In March 2008, Youngstown City Council adopted a 183-page comprehensive neighborhood plan for Idora’s future. Since then, Idora has made continued progress by implementing the plan’s goals, objectives and strategies.
More than 150 residents participated in the neighborhood plan’s nine-month creation, basing it on their ideas and concerns. This involvement catalyzed the growth of Idora Neighborhood Association from eight to more than 225 members.
Idora is a Youngstown 2010, Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and Lots of Green target area.
Idora is surrounded by Mill Creek MetroParks which affords the neighborhood multiple recreational opportunities. The neighborhood is also endowed with a diverse housing stock including: historic estate homes and more modest architecturally significant housing units. The neighborhood also has a walkable neighborhood fabric and commercial corridor.
